Dr. Kimoni Yaw Ajani
Dr. Kimoni Yaw Ajani (formerly Wilbert St.Hilaire) originally hails from a small Ayisyen (Haitian) community in Spring Valley, New York and is 1st generation of Ayisyen descent living in the United States. Dr. Ajani (St.Hilaire) graduated from SUNY Oswego in the Spring of 2014 with a B.A. in History and a minor in African American studies. He would go on to receive an M.A. in Africana studies at the University at Albany (SUNY) in 2016 and in 2021 a Ph.D. from the department of Africology & African American studies at Temple University. His dissertation under the advisement of Dr. Ama Mazama was titled: “An Afrocentric Re-examination of the Historiography around the Afrikan Revolution in Ayiti (Haiti).” Currently, he is a tenure track assistant professor in the Africana Studies department at Stockton University and serves on theexecutive council board of the Diopian Institute for Scholarly Advancement (DISA) and is a member of the grassroots organization, Afrocentricity International, Philadelphia chapter. Dr. Ajani recent book is titled The Afrikan Revolution in Ayiti: Libète ou Lanmò, Freedom or Death(December 2023). |
